Meet Kem

As a midlife person, I understand that life is uncertain, with experiences  both beautiful and chaotic, high and low, sacred and profane. I find meaning helping young adults learn to surf these waves and manage uncertainty with acceptance and curiosity. I care deeply about helping those with health challenges regulate anxiety because as a person with diabetes, I live with medications and blood sugar concerns. I share an authentic compassion for those who likewise have been disappointed in their bodies.

I understand the complexity of relationships as a married person of thirty years. I am certified in levels 1 and 2 of the Gottman Method, which is a data-supported approach to achieving a fulfilling partnership with friendship and intimacy. As a mother of three adult children, I appreciate how we can simultaneously love and wish to escape family life.

In session, I will help you identify core values to seek a meaningful life. We will use components of cognitive behavior therapy and solution focused therapy so that our sessions provide clarity and action steps. I will encourage mindfulness and its essential role in helping regulate thoughts and emotions. Together we can create an achievable daily ritual for grounding oneself and making friends with uncertainty.  You will explore the schemas of your mind and consider reframing unhelpful thought patterns.  In person clients leave with a  notecard on which I have written session impact points and included homework for processing. Experiential clients may request yoga and mindfulness following our conversation for an additional fee.

I currently teach yoga at Centered City Yoga which weaves my interest in mind, body, and spirit health. In my free time, I hike with my partner and dogs, practice yoga, visit farmer’s markets, and read from Buddhist publications.
